Every year, pre-final year students from premier institutions are selected for an 8–10-week summer internship across GMR business units.
These internships are not routine observational stints, they include live business projects, structured mentorship, and exposure to real-time problem solving in operational settings. Interns work with cross-functional teams and are assessed on their ability to think critically, collaborate, and deliver value, making them eligible for future roles as Management or Graduate Engineer Trainees.
Group Management Trainees (GMTs): The Next-Gen Leaders
Drawn from top B-schools and premier institutes, Group Management Trainees (GMTs) are selected through a rigorous campus hiring process to work across corporate functions and strategic businesses.
The GMT program includes:
- Role-specific onboarding
- Cross-functional projects with leadership visibility
- Rotational assignments across business verticals (aviation, energy, urban infra)
- A dedicated mentor-buddy model with mid- to senior-level leaders
- Early career reviews to fast-track performance-based career movement
They are often entrusted with projects that directly impact business outcomes and are seen as future leaders in planning, finance, strategy, and business development. As one of the most competitive tracks within GMR on Campus, the GMT program grooms future leaders ready to take on strategic responsibilities.
Management Trainees (MTs): Emerging Functional Experts
Sourced from reputed universities and B-schools, Management Trainees (MTs) join GMR to strengthen functional expertise in areas such as CSR, HR, communications, commercial operations, project management and more.
They begin with:
- A comprehensive induction into the GMR Group ecosystem
- Function-specific training, including domain tools, systems, and reporting practices
- Short-term projects within their vertical to build ownership
- Access to structured feedback and mentoring from functional heads
MTs are gradually absorbed into permanent roles, with a focus on skill development, collaboration, and operational depth within their chosen field.
