With the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting nation-wide lockdown having brought India virtually to a standstill position, many migrant labourers are facing a tough time coping with the situation. With neither money in their hands nor any safe shelter available, the migrant labourers are the most affected during these tumultuous times.

Recognizing the important role played by these migrant labourers in nation building and in keeping the economy running, GMR Corona Warriors, primarily the members of GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (CSR arm of GMR Group) across the nation, have stepped in to support them in their hour of need.

• GMR-led Hyderabad Airport team, in coordination with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), has pledged to distribute 1000 food packets daily during the lockdown.
• GMR Highways team distributes essential items to migrant workers and people living in slums around GMR Hyderabad-Vijayawada, GMR Pochanpalli, and GMR Ambala-Chandigarh Expressways.
• Delhi Airport team, in coordination with Delhi Police and Society for Promotion of Youth & Masses (SPYM), is distributing food packets to thousands of needy people.
• GMR Kakinada SEZ team, in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, distributes essentials to municipal contract workers who have been keeping smart Kakinada city clean, hygienic, and disinfected round the clock.
