OAMC team undergoes training at GMR Aviation academy, Hyderabad and Delhi

GADL signed MoU with OAMC for providing training and consultancy services

GMR Airport Developers Limited GADL, a subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure Limited, in line with the MoU signed with Oman Airport Management Company OAMC has started providing training to the first batch of OAMC trainees at the GMR Aviation Academy GMRAA GMRAA is one of the few academies in the world to have received the coveted Regional Training Centre of Excellence RTCE certification.

The first batch of trainees from OAMC has reached India on 23rd August, 2015 and after completion of two-week training in India, the OAMC team would return to Muscat. A 22 member team from OAMC is presently undergoing a specially designed course on Airfield Rescue and Firefighting at the GMRAA, Hyderabad and next week, the team will continue their training at GMRAA, New Delhi.

GADL had signed a Memorandum of Understanding MoU with OAMC in June this year for providing training and consultancy services. As per the MoU, the GMR subsidiary will provide services ranging from program management, testing and commissioning of airport systems to development of aeronautical and non-aeronautical revenue streams.

There will be a new batch every three weeks. A total of 6 to 10 batches, each consisting of 16 to 22 trainees will undergo the training. The training program would cover firefighters from all the four airports in Oman Muscat, Salalah, Sohar and Duqm. In line with the MoU, GADL subsidiary will also provide on-site support for six-months at Salalah Airport.

Speaking on the development GADL Spokesperson, said, “GMR has been engaging with and offering consultancy services to airport companies in the Middle East and South East Asia. We are happy that the process of training OAMC staff has started at our globally acclaimed aviation academy. This training will help OAMC teams to learn and adapt some of the best practices of GMR’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad.”

GMRAA earlier had successfully provided training and consultancy to airport management team in Philippines.
