GWEL is the second business under GMR Group umbrella to win ‘Sword of Honour’ in India RGIA bagged this award in 2013

New Delhi, December 04, 2019: GMR Warora Energy Limited GWEL a subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure, today announced that it has won the prestigious ‘Sword of Honors award. The British Safety Council, a non profit organization campaigning for better health and safety, handed over the prestigious award to GWEL recently. The award was conferred on GWEL for its commitments towards inculcating practices that assure a secure and healthy environment for all its stakeholders.

Under the umbrella of GMR Group, GWEL is the second to be honoured with this accolade. The first was Rajiv Gandhi International Airport RGIA, operated by GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, which won the ‘Sword of Honour’ from assignment canada help for safety management in December 2013.

Commenting on the receipt of the award, Shri Dhananjay V Deshpande, GWEL-COO, said, “At GWEL, we had taken “Zero Harm” initiative, consisting multiple programs in the areas of health and safety for creating safe work place, better health and work life balance. This is in line with our organization’s mission of being a preferred employer. This appreciation from British Safety Council is a testimony of our healthy work environment, safety systems, organization's culture, and stakeholder engagement.”

The companies were evaluated by an independent panel of experts on the performance of the health and safety systems in the period August 2018 July 2019. GWEL was among the top achievers in the ‘Five Star Occupational Health and Safety’ Audit conducted recently by the British Safety Council.

GWEL was one of 84 organization's worldwide to be felicitated with this award at an opulent ceremony held in London’s Merchant Taylor’s Hall. The  Sword of Honour  is considered to be Oscar of the Safety World.
