The Foundation tailors its work to each community's specific reality. It supports marginalised trade groups with interest-free loans and tuition centres, and empowers differently abled persons to take part in community life.

Community-specific Initiatives

CMED (Community Managed Empowerment and Development) programme was initiated in 2003 as a need based program for the most under-privileged communities living in the slums of Rajam in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh. This programme aims at overall development of slum community of Rajam town through different developmental activities. The Foundation is working with Basket weavers, Dhobis, Toddy tappers, Barbers, Sanitation workers and Cleaners in 12 different slums of Rajam Nagara Panchayat. The activities include need-based education, health and sanitation initiatives and livelihood support activities like interest-free loans to Common Interest Groups (CIGs) etc.

Empowering the Differently-abled

GMRVF has taken up many initiatives to integrate disability with community services, such as facilitating special education for children with disabilities, aids and appliances and physiotherapy services, and facilitating access to entitlements etc. The Foundation also sensitizes the community towards the needs of Persons with Disabilities to help inclusion of the differently-abled into the mainstream.
