Sustainable Aviation At Scale

Since inception, GMR Airports Limited (GAL) continues to embed sustainability at the core of airport design and operations. GAL advances this through clean energy, circularity, and AI-led efficiency—building resilient, future-ready airport ecosystems, underpinned by strong governance, that deliver environmental, social, and economic value for stakeholders.
Sustainability by Design
Sustainability is embedded into GMR Airports’ infrastructure from the design stage itself. Our airports follow globally recognised green building principles focused on climate resilience, energy efficiency, and responsible water and waste management. Certified by USGBC and IGBC, these choices reflect our belief that sustainability and long-term growth go hand in hand - creating future-ready national assets.
Safe, Ethical and Respectful Culture
People are central to GMR’s growth. Across our airports, we foster a culture of safety, respect, mindfulness, and well-being, supported through internal mobility, wellness initiatives, and leadership development. All airports are ISO 45001 certified, with trained emergency response teams and robust safety protocols for employees, passengers, and partners.
Community Impact through GMRVF
For over three decades, the GMR Varalakshmi Foundation has led the Group’s community engagement efforts. In FY 2024–25, its initiatives positively impacted over 1 lakh+ people, with 95% from vulnerable and marginalized communities. Programs focus on education, healthcare, skilling, livelihoods, and access to essential community infrastructure.
Anchoring Governance on Integrity
Guided by GMR Group’s Values & Beliefs, GAL thrives on strong board oversight, robust ethics frameworks and a zero-tolerance approach to misconduct. GAL’s transparent disclosures, anti-corruption practices and strong leadership form the foundation for institutionalising governance to build trust, manage risks and ensure responsible, long-term value creation.
